The Newcastle North Stars are in their sixth consecutive year in the Australian Ice Hockey
League in 2007. In the 2006 season, the North Stars have regained possession
of the Goodall Cup after winning the AIHL finals held in Adelaide last September
in a 4 goal to nill shutout victory against the Adelaide Avalanche.
Previous to 2002, Newcastle had been absent from Ice Hockey on a National
level since the Wharf Rd ice rink closed in 1982.
Australia's National Ice Hockey League starts in mid April & consists of
24 rounds, vs. teams in Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra & Melbourne, and now
Brisbane and NSW's Central Coast.
